Great people in Eastwood

Here is Jacobs email this last week.  Life of a Missionary never ends.

Its good to hear everything is going well at home. We haven't really had a chance to go out and teach or tract or street contact because things keep coming up. All last week we had a leak in our sink so we couldn't leave our flat, every hour we had to empty a pan of water and it was so annoying. so our flat is a mess right now, the washing machine is in the middle of the kitchen and theres garbage all over the floor. the plumber should be coming today but no promises since he was supposed to be here last Wednesday. The Spanish family here has taken care of us all week. we have no money and barely any food, so they had us over for dinner and lunch every day last week and yesterday we went to family home evening with them. they all speak Spanish and hardly any English and they keep rebuking me for not knowing Spanish and they aren't happy with you for not teaching me ;) haha but they are awesome and shorter than you its crazy! the picture is from family home evening yesterday their little girls sang frozen songs to us in Spanish. 

I actually am getting my bike tomorrow I got an amazing deal on a racing bike last week for £70 its awesome, it comes with helmet, lock, lights, and some really nice tires. that's really all that's happened the last week.  Everything is great here its raining a lot too. Um I think that's it.

Eastwood England 1st Week Pics and Letter

Here is what Jacob sent us:

"Well I've had the time of my life here. Its been great we've been able to meet with some recent converts and inactive members. Church was awesome but really really small like only 80-100 people. There is a Spanish family in the ward and they tried speaking Spanish to me but I don't know any Spanish.  When I told them that, they wondered why I was never taught.  Now I'm regretting taking German. But one of the Spanish members said he would teach me and my companion Spanish if we helped him with English. My companion is wayyyyy sick. His name is Elder Hall, he's from Layton Utah and he is super chill and funny, he played soccer on the Olympic development team in Utah so hes kinda good and I feel inferior to everyone here with my football  (he meant soccer, FUTBOL) skills. I'm getting better though. Ive been a little homesick but not tons. it rains quite a bit here and all the people are really nice, unless its game day then people wont talk to us cause Elder Hall has an Arsenal jersey on. That actually happened haha. One thing about missionary work that I never realized is that I can still be super chill with my companions and the members and stuff, we all joke around all the time and I thought it was all gonna be super serious and boring.  But yeah that's one of the stories I have. I need like 200£ for a bike on my card today so that would be nice. My favorite thing to read out here is 2 Nephi chapter 31.  It's my go to for almost everything. anyways that's all for now. "

This is what he wrote his mom:

Hey mamma. Its been a busy couple of days and I have had so much fun!!!! Church was awesome all the members are great. We've had the chance to talk to some non-active and recent converts. I don't know if dad told you but we play football a lot here. its kinda crazy, but at least I wont get fat or anything. all the stuff here is super cool but its wayyy different. I'm enjoying every minute of it. Me and my companion party all the time and its way fun!!! my companion wants some recipes. one recipe that we really need is buttermilk syrup. there is absolutely no maple syrup here is too sweet for the people here and we have this pancake mix with no syrup!!!!! so yeah we need that right away. also send any other recipes that you think we might like. also I want the recipe for green meat. We haven't had a chance to go tracting areas cause I don't have a bike yet so nothing too crazy in that area. there are lots of drunk people here in the evening too its quite funny actually. I think I'm getting an accent also I cant be sure casue I thought my companion had an accent and now he sounds normal sooooooo yeah I could be crazy. anyways that's about it really nothing too crazy has happened.

Week 2

OH where to begin...Well first off I have had the time of my life here. It is like scripture college here and I'm enjoying every minute of it.  I'll start off with the non serious stuff. So I told you I'm the district leader so everyone makes fun of me basically (with love) and we all pull pranks on each other. One Elder here named Elder Ashworth lives in Highland and is the greatest person to mess with. He basically reacts to everything the same way Mitch does except he has huge muscles so its scarier.  We put packing peanuts in his bed. He does this thing where he just starts talking bible at us. Its not like from the bible he just puts random biblical words together and it is probably the greatest thing ever. I will try and send a video and some pics.  Everyone in my district started out very hostile towards each other but one night we decided to have a spiritual meeting (no teachers around, half our class time we run the show) and we all became very close after that. I have learned so much and my favorite scripture that I've read probably 15 times now is 2 nephi 31-33. I teach so many lesson from these three chapters and its amazing how well the spirit works through us. So we had the chance to teach real people the same way we would teach in the field (if they were real investigators or not idk) but we got to teach Don a 68 year old man who was interrested in our church. At first when we were teaching we tried to learn as much about him as we could. He has had a very normal life I would say and it was easy to teach him the first lesson. Half the time after I would say something I would forget what I said after. We taught the doctrines of christ our 2nd to last time and I took the lead on that and I crushed it. The next lesson we had he accepted the invitation to be baptized. I love the MTC. Elder Ashworth gets like 3 packages a day and we all hate him for it! But its good stuff, he shares all the food cause he can not bring it with him so we are all really fat. I've been too scared to go weigh myself haha. well I cant think of anything else at the moment. so bye.

1st Letter from MTC Aug 2, 2014

Well these first few days have probably been the highlight of my life. I love it here I don't even remember what home is... haha. But seriously I've felt a spirit here that I've only ever felt at organized activities like EFY or Helemans camp. I'm learning so much and for the first time in a long time I'm learning a new lesson from the scriptures every day.  Let me give you a quick thing about how the last few days have gone, after you dropped me off.   I got to my room and then it was straight to the classroom. I started out in a trio companionship but now I'm in a normal companionship. I've learned mostly about how to profile and find the needs of an investigator and then teach them what they need to hear. I rarely think about home cause I'm so busy here....  I'm the district leader.  So please send me some treats for them.  Basically all I've done the last couple of days is learn and study, we are always studying.  Oh and you know that house by the stake center with the big Y on top of it? that's the house of one of my branch presidents.  Anyways i love you guys tell Sidney (cousin) to email me. peace!!!
